Doctor , you often say that clean blood vessels are the foundation of good health. What makes you think that?
It's simple. The proper functioning of the body's organs and systems depends on the quality of blood circulation. Blood circulation, in fact, allows internal organs to receive oxygen and nutrients, as well as eliminate carbon dioxide and metabolic waste. During childhood, adolescence, and youth, we move more; our blood vessels are new, elastic, and clean, and our organs receive optimal nourishment. As we age, we move less, and our blood vessels begin to become dirty. This is caused by various factors, not all of which are harmful (such as smoking, an unhealthy diet, pollution, and a sedentary lifestyle), but also natural (the deposition of lipids, a process that occurs in all organisms).
What does it mean when blood vessels are "dirty"? Picture rusty pipes. What happens? Water pressure increases, and the water itself takes on a bad taste. Much the same thing happens with blood vessels. When cholesterol or other substances build up in them, pressure increases ( dirty blood vessels are the main cause of hypertension!), the blood becomes contaminated, and circulation becomes irregular. If the clot dissolves and enters the bloodstream, it can cause obstruction of blood vessels in the heart and subsequent cardiac arrest, which is fatal in 70% of cases.
